Pickwick Santa introduces this user-friendly APK get for QR code and Barcode scanning. Turn your Android mobile’s camera into a powerful QR and barcode reader by simply pointing it at the code.
The interface has a simple design, and I’ll give it a 3/5 for the bare-bones graphics. The design is quite intuitive, with the options for QR Scanner, Barcode Scanner, creating and sharing your own codes and customizing settings which are very simple to understand and use. There isn’t much to the UI other than these options.
The app is just as simple as pointing your phone’s camera to the code and scanning it. The tool will recognize it automatically and retrieve the information stored in the code. The reader can scan text, email addresses, physical contact addresses, call-line numbers and web URLs. In the latter case, you will be redirected to the external website.
You will also be able to scan and read different barcode types such as UPC, EAN, and ISBN and you can also share your codes on your Social Media accounts such as Facebook, Twitter, IM, and Email, and you can get an entire log of all your past scans. In order to scan just use the autofocus option.
The frequent updates offer a few bug fixes and also try to enhance the stability of the app. I’ll give the app a 4/5 for functionality. The APK is get free, and there are no in-app purchases for this app. The app is only compatible with Google Android, version 3.0 to be exact. There is no iOS version available for the app.
Ease of Use
The Android app generally scans well, and it affords you a wide variety of scan options, including creating your own codes. It isn’t the leading QR and Barcode reader I’ve used, especially because of the crashes that I experienced and the fact that this app has too many ads. The ads actually got frustrating to the point that I uninstalled the app. The auto-focus also moves outside the scan box and needs a well-lit environment. Most barcodes I tried only pulled up after several attempts, not counting all the minutes spent on annoying ads. I rate this at a 2/5.
- Nice UI;
- Simple to use;
- Quite fast when it decides to behave.
- Impossibly annoying with too many ads;
- Requests too may permissions;
- Moves out of focus frequently.
