Design

If you have something to say about this app and make own review – write me.

The PDF Reader from PickWick isn’t the most intuitive in my books. The UI is too cluttered, and it’s very easy to lose your way around this app. The fonts are pretty small, and I wish the developers gave you a chance to customize your own themes. The score is 3/5.

Highlights

The PDF Reader Android app allows you to read different PDF file formats including PDF XPS (OpenXPS), DjVu, FictionBook (fb2 and fb2.zip), EPUB, RTF and comic book formats (CBR, CBZ).

The app provides a text to speech tool and a ‘search’ functionality or a built-in file browser that allows you to find text content on a page. You can annotate using custom fonts, export PDF documents to text and create a bookmark list. This PDF Reader also offers night mode for those users who like reading in low light conditions. Moreover, there are various themes to enhance the visual experience.

Other important features are:

– LitRes online support.
– Hyphenation dictionaries.
– Support for different styles, tables, footnotes, and fonts.
Auto-detection of encoded TXT files.
– Support for a dictionary (GoldenDict, ColorDict and Aard Dictionary).
– Accessing and reading ZIP archives.
Selecting text using double tap (can be disabled).

The app requires Android 3.0 or higher. The app isn’t compatible with iOS devicesThe app is completely free to install, and there are no in-app purchases. The score is 4/5.

Ease of Use

There are too many ads on this app. They are extremely intrusive. The app is also too glitchy, and the UI isn’t the most intuitive. The app crashes way too often especially when I try to open a big file. It seems some of the file extensions advertised are also not supported. I, at some point, lost my documents on the SD and had to try and recover them on another device. The user experience on this app even for other users is quite lackluster, to say the least.

There are new updates for dictionary support and bug fixes. The latest version allows style customization using CSS. The score is 3/5.
